Hi, Ghouls & Monsters! I’m back with my annual Halloween Cake inspiration blog post but this time, I’ll be focusing on simple Halloween cake ideas that you can do or have the cake done for your next Halloween! When I say simple, I am referring to cakes that are not too fussy and with 2-3 sets of cake elements.
Simple Halloween Cake Ideas
Spooky Halloween Cake
I loved making this spooky bloody heart cake! It checks all of my Halloween must-haves for a simple Halloween cake, ruffle buttercream border, sprinkles, blood splatter, chocolate heart, and drip. I know I just contradicted myself on simple cake elements but this is a simple cake for myself. 😆 You can always do a buttercream border, sprinkles, and blood splatter! Setting up the spooky scene for the photography was so much fun as well! I had to add a scary message on the top of the cake to ramp up the creep factor! I used this mold for the chocolate heart, edible red paint (you also can dilute red food coloring with vodka to get the same effect) for the splatter, “Cold Case” Fancy Sprinkles blend which has candy eyeballs, and my trusty 1M piping tip for the buttercream border.
Boo Mini Cake
This adorable one-layer cake is perfect for a Halloween treat for kids!!
Simple Frankenstein Cake
This is a great way to do a Frankenstein cake by using a bit of fondant for the eyes, ears, and bolts. The rest of the Halloween cake decorations is buttercream!
Black Halloween Candy Cake
What a fun cake! The best part of this, you can put a mini Jack O’ Lantern bucket filled with candy and add some sprinkles on the bottom.
Purple Halloween Drip Cake
This gorgeous cake with Halloween candy on the top will delight your party guests!
Colorful Ghost Sheet Cake
I love this cute ghost sheet cake and it will be great for a Halloween dessert table. Check out how to make it on her YouTube!
Monster Eye Cake
This cake just gives me all of the spooky vibes and I love it! Here’s a tip. Use black cocoa powder to achieve super black frosting along with black food gel coloring and a bit of time.
Halloween Candy Cake
Using Halloween candy and sprinkles on the whole cake is one of the easy ways you can do it for Halloween! A fun twist to this cake is to turn it into an easy graveyard dirt cake using gummy worms.
Haunted House Cake
I’m loving this fun haunted cake with fondant accents! Fondant not your thing? You can do chocolate pumpkins and bats using a mold.
Marshmallow Webs & Spiders Cake
One of the prettiest spider web cakes. Using a bit of marshmallow will make it easy to achieve this fun effect!
Spooky Ghost Cake
Love this creative cake using ghost royal icing to spell out the word. Check out her recent cake interview here.
Trick or Treat Cake
So cute! Using cake toppers and acrylic cake decorations are also a great way to add to the cake!
Black Cat Bento Cake
How darling! Bento cakes are perfect sweet treats for Halloween parties. She achieved the cat by using a cat cookie cutter and fondant.
Halloween Pumpkin Cake
This is just so much fun to look at! Ganache drips and sprinkles always will be some of my favorite cake decorations. There are premade drip bottles such as Sweet Tooth Fairy if you prefer to skip making the drip.
Poison Apple Cake
One of fun and easy Halloween cakes using two cake decorating elements! Check her blog post on how to do this cake.
Bonus Halloween Cake Idea
Adorable Halloween Cake
I attended a birthday recently and I fell in love with this amazing mummy & Frankenstein cake, so I had to add this to the cake round up! It’s so cute. The baker did fondant for the mummy wraps and eyes and also for Frankenstein’s eyes. The rest is buttercream. October birthdays are just so much fun with Halloween themes!
Thank you so much for reading and special thanks to the cake decorators who shared their simple Halloween cake ideas!
