Hi Everyone! For December, we are featuring Whisk and Drizzle.

Tell us about yourself.

I’m Marianna, originally from Cyprus, living in London for the past 10 years. 28 years young 😉 I am a neuroscientist who decided research was not for me, so I decided to follow my cake decorating passion. Here I am – running Whisk & Drizzle, my little cake baby.

How did you start making cakes?

I always baked – my grandmother was a chef and baker so I grew up with flour, sugar, and chocolate as my toys. I trained as a chef at Le Cordon Bleu London in 2013 and after that, I started baking for cafes in Central London. In 2017, I decided it was time to set up my own little business – Whisk & Drizzle.

Do you have a favorite buttercream? (American, Swiss Meringue & other)

Swiss meringue buttercream, for sure. Although, I do a lot of vegan cakes where I use Vegan American buttercream.

Do you have any favorite tools in your cake toolkit?

Nothing out of the ordinary 🙂

  1. A turntable
  2.  Edge scraper
  3. Little palette knife.
  4. Kitchenmaid
  5. Candy thermometer

Do you have any advice for someone who is starting out in the cake business?

I would say be prepared for long hours, late nights and no free weekends. If you love what you do then it’s worth it but this is not for the faint-hearted. Believe in yourself and be strong 🙂
